INTRODUCTION
The Anchors for Public Health and Nutrition Initiative (APHNI) successfully conducted a one-day medical outreach on Saturday, 25th October 2025, at Bulunku Community, Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The outreach was aimed at improving access to quality healthcare, promoting health education, and offering free medical consultations and drug distribution to community members.
OBJECTIVES
• To improve access to quality healthcare for community members
• To promote health education within the community
• To offer free medical consultations to beneficiaries
• To provide free drug distribution according to diagnoses
ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT
• Opening prayer and welcome remarks led by the Village Head (Hakimi)
• Free medical consultations for community members
• Screening and treatment of common conditions, including malaria and febrile illnesses, hypertension and other heart-related conditions, diabetes mellitus, dental and oral health issues, gastrointestinal disorders, and musculoskeletal pain and minor infections
• Health counselling for beneficiaries
• Distribution of free medications according to diagnoses
KEY MESSAGES DELIVERED
• Regular health checks help detect conditions such as hypertension and diabetes early
• Prompt treatment of malaria and febrile illnesses prevents complications
• Attention to oral, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal complaints supports overall wellbeing

PARTICIPATION AND OBSERVATIONS
The program commenced at 9:00 a.m. with an opening prayer led by the Village Head (Hakimi), who warmly welcomed the APHNI team and appreciated the organization’s continuous effort toward promoting community health and wellbeing. The outreach recorded a total of 247 beneficiaries, comprising 71 males and 176 females, all of whom received medical consultations, counselling, and free medications according to their diagnoses.
OUTCOMES
• Delivered free medical services to 247 beneficiaries
• Promoted health awareness within the Bulunku community
• Strengthened community engagement and trust in APHNI’s outreach efforts
• Improved access to healthcare for underserved community members
CONCLUSION
The medical outreach at Bulunku Community was successfully conducted, achieving its objectives of delivering free medical services, promoting health awareness, and strengthening community engagement. APHNI remains committed to expanding access to quality healthcare for underserved communities.
